Key components of the workshop include:
Alignment
These rejuvenating inversions, like all other yoga postures, rely on spacious and intentional alignment. Through specific cues and carefully designed drills you will learn how to actively be in these poses, regardless of your previous experience or lack thereof. Specific alignment will give you the confidence and power to embody these otherwise intimidating inversions. You will gain a sense of actionable agency over what you want to create in your inversion practice.
Health Benefits
There are many mental, psychological, and anatomical benefits of inversions. There may also be times when you choose not to invert. In this section we will explore both those areas and help to separate science from myth.
History, Philosophy, and Myths
We will discuss the stories behind these postures as described in the ancient books of yoga such as The Yoga Sutras and Bhagavard-Gita.
Head/Handstand Variations
The promise of the workshop is that every participant will confidently achieve a head and handstand pose. The invitation of this promise lies in expanding your imagination to the multiple variations of these poses.
Drills
A focused set of drills designed to build strength and discipline in your routine are at the core of the program. These exercises will empower you to continue this work on your own.
Journal
While disciplining the body is the first measurable outcome of an inversion practice—the disciple that we eventually seek is that of the mind. In this part of the workshop, you are invited to reflect on the subtle aspects of these postures and perhaps invert some beliefs (manifested in your words and how you speak to yourself and others) that no longer serve you. You will be led through a meditation followed by journaling to delineate for yourself what you want to have happen in your inversion practice.
Follow-ups
